Public lamp posts could become key carriers of modern technologies in the city. This way, a network of sensors will be installed throughout the entire city. They will collect data related to the city operation and its environment. We start with the pilot project on Karlínské Square, which thus acquired a new, more modern lighting system. The objective is reducing electric energy consumption and, at the same time, furnishing the posts with other functionalities by the means of newly installed measuring sensors. The modernized public lighting posts may also increase safety of people at the given location.
Sensors monitor motion in their surroundings, measure temperature, CO2 pollution, meteorological parameters and noise. In the future, lamp posts could also provide data on neighbouring buildings, benches, smart waste containers, parking meters, etc. Data will be archived in a data platform and processed for further application.
The Smart Lighting project also includes a pilot modernization of 5 lamps (lamp posts respectively). It complements the smart functions as an AC charging station for electric vehicles placed on the bottom of the lamp post. The device will be equipped with sensors for air pollution monitoring and with meteosensors. This part of the pilot project is currently in the implementation phase.
Part of the project involving 92 lights and a sensory network has been evaluated and completed. Part of the project involving 5 charging stations for electric vehicles is currently in the implementation phase.
